After the fall of Baghdad, The Abbasides migrated from Baghdad to Egypt and then to Sindh. On the recommendation of Priests of Uch The Gillanis and Bukharis the territory of " Choudri" was given to Abbasides ( Dawood Potras) in 1727 by Nawab Hayatullah Khan Tarin and the Period of Abbasi dynasty was started. They made Allahabad as their first Capital. The great Abbasis served this State from 1727 to 1947. There were 12 different rulers (Nawabs) served in the State. The period of the State can be divided in two parts. First period started from 1727 to 1866 and then 1866 to 1947.

The first period 1727 to 1866 without the Interference of British Government and the second period started from 1866 to 1947,when It was requested by mother of young Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan 4th to take over the affairs of the State till the maturity of young Nawab and they took over the charge by introducing of Council of Agency from 1866 to 1879.
Then after the death of Late Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan 4th ( Subah Sadiq ),the Crown prince Bahawal Khan v was also too young, then second Council of Agency period was started from 1899 to 1903 and then third period of Council of Regency( A six members council under the headship of Sir Molvi Rahim Bukhash) was made from 1907 to 1924 till the Maturity of Last Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan v, who was born in 1904. His father Nawab Bahawal Khan Abbasi v died in 1907, when he was just of three years. He got his Education from Chiefs College.

Then after completing his education he was delegated powers of Nawab in 1924 at the age of 20and he served the State of Bahawalpur is considered the most successful period of the State and the State of Bahawalpur was considered as welfare State because of his services in Education, Health and other fields like Justice etc. He made Sadiq Reading Library (Central Library) in 1924.His another land mark is introduction of Sutlej Valley Project ( SVP),which started from 1922 and was completed in 1933.

He requested for Loan to British Government and took loan of 120 million and it has to be returned till 1986 in Instalments with interest. After the completion of this SVP four Head Works were made on Ferozepur, Sulemanki, Head Islam and Head Punjnad. Different Canals were made to irrigate the lands of State of Bahawalpur. Because of this project, the lands were irrigated. Bahawalpur State was considered one of the richest State as they have returned the Loan to British Government before due date as they refund it to British in 1950 almost 36 years before due date.

He was a real Administrator having decision power, Authoritarian nature, Brave and to give Justice to the residents of his State with his bold decisions. He spread a network of Educational Institutions like Vocational, Technical and general Schools and Colleges. He upgraded the famous Sadiq Egerton College (1886) made by his grandfather and also added beds in Bahawal Victoria Hospital (1906) made by his father. He provided Justice to everyone on door step by his Mobile courts. He usually visited different areas of his State and listened the complaints of the peoples and provides justice to the complaint by taking action on the spot.

In his period Jamia Abbasia( now Islamia University) was made in 1925 just like Jamia Ul Azhar, where Quran, Hadith and Fiqah was taught and the Scholars like Molana Ghulam Muhammad Ghotvi and Syed Ahmed Saeed Kazmi were teachers. The famous decision was made in 1935 about the declation of Qadiyanies as non-Muslim by Judge Muhammad Akbar Khan in his period.When a writt of a lady Ghulam Aisha was entertained against her husband Abdul Razzaq, who changed his religion from Islam to Qadiyanies. There was lot of pressure on Nawab sb by British Government about this case but he asked the Judge to make the decision on merit. The galaxy of Scholars of different Sects were invited and accommodated by State for almost 6 months to make this decision on merit.

Bahawalpur Bench on the occasion of the Celebration of 295th Anniversary of Bahawalpur State( 1727-2022). Bahawalpur State was founded in 1727 by Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan-I (1727-1746). While the Capital Dar-us-Saroor Bahawalpur was founded in 1748 by Nawab Muhammad Bahawal Khan-I (1746-1749). Nawab Sadiq Muhammad Khan -V (1907-1955) renamed it Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Bahawalpur. His Highness also established High Court Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Bahawalpur on 15th September 1937 instead of Chief Court Bahawalpur. The Chief Court was established in 1910-1911 while the Sadar Adalat was founded on 1st April 1870.
